Physical
Therapy
Physical therapy
is a rehabilitation method of recovering parts of the body which are painful
and troublesome through exercise and hot/cold modalities especially those who
have been immobilized, and have impaired movement and flexibility. The aim of Physical therapy is to get the patient to use their joints, increase
flexibility, and range of motion as well as to gain higher levels of muscular
strength. Physical therapy is not only used for rehabilitation but is also used
post-operatively to help strengthen muscles and improve post-surgical
performance.
Physical therapists
(PT’s) work with the patient to make a personalized therapy program which is completely
customized to suit their needs. It is the most sought after first line of
treatment before doing any invasive procedure as it offers the most optimal
conservative approach to managing the conditions.
Physiotherapists cater to individuals of all ages, from newborns to people at the end
of their life on conditions related to injuries, disabilities, or other
health-related issues that need treatment; but they also help those who want to
become healthier and prevent future problems.
Physical
therapists work in vast settings including hospitals, outpatient clinics,
people’s homes, schools, workplaces, and nursing homes.
