10 TIPS FOR HEALTHY EATING FOR KIDS
We know that nutrition is very important for having a healthy body. Here are a few guidelines that can encourage your kids to eat right and maintain a healthy life.
Buy the Best.
As parents, you decide what groceries and eatables to buy and what to eat. Though
kids will pester you for having junk food, sugary and starchy foods. Kid’s when
hungry will eat whatever is available at home. Kids need to have some say in
the matter, there should be cheat days and fun foods in their meal plan.
Quit the "finish all in your plate." Kids and adults alike have a tendency to know when they are full and they should listen to their bodies. The “finish all in your plate” rule was followed in the older days, but nowadays it can lead to overeating.
Start them young. Likes and dislikes begin forming as early as in babies. So it is ideal to feed everything to your kids when they are babies. Get them to taste and try everything as accepting a new eatable can take time for a child. Do not force feed your child.
Kids' menu. When eating outside, let your kids experiment and experience different foods. Let them try whatever suits their fancy. You can order from the kid’s menu at restaurants or order a kid’s portion for them to try.
Sugary drinks count. Cola, sprite, and other sweetened drinks have extra calories without any nutrition. Although water and milk are the best drink, fresh juice is also good for the kids.
Sweets. Sweets used as a prize or treat for completing chores and eating meals is a good idea once in a while.
Be a role model. Your kids will do as you do. So, if you are trying to teach good eating habits, try to follow that yourself and set a good example.
Limit screen time. Extra screen time can lead to snacking and inactivity. When TV and computer time is limited, the kids will have more free time and will look for more active things to do to.
All in all, what is eat is as important as what we teach our kids. Good food leads to a healthy life and a healthy body.
